Sichuan Agricultural University undergraduates make progress in postharvest quality control of Arabidopsis thunbergii

Recently, the School of Horticulture of Sichuan Agricultural University published a paper entitled "Effect of light on sensory quality, health-promoting phytochemicals and antioxidant capacity in post-harvest baby mustard" (The effect of light on post-harvest sensory quality, bioactive substances and antioxidant capacity of baby mustard). The journal is a CAS Top Journal of Agriculture and Forestry Science Region 1, with an impact factor of 6.306 in 2020.

It is a Chinese specialty vegetable, mainly cultivated in Sichuan and Chongqing, and is rich in bioactive substances such as mustard oil glycosides, carotenoids and ascorbic acid. This paper investigated the effects of different photoperiodic treatments on the postharvest organoleptic quality, bioactive substances and antioxidant capacity of axillary buds of Arabidopsis thaliana, and revealed the mechanism of light treatment on the postharvest quality of Arabidopsis thaliana.

The thesis was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Sichuan Agricultural University Undergraduate Research Interest Cultivation Program. The paper was published with Sichuan Agricultural University as the sole unit, with Associate Professor Bo Sun from the College of Horticulture and undergraduates Hongmei Di and Jiaqi Zhang from the Class of 2017 in Horticulture as co-first authors, Ms. Fen Zhang, an experimental assistant in the Department of Horticulture, as the corresponding author, and undergraduates Fengxin Xia, Wenli Huang, Yue Jian and Chenlu Zhang from the Department of Horticulture as co-authors, and the publication of this paper broke a new high for independent publication of papers by undergraduates in Horticulture.
