Alzheimer's Disease Research
Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common type of dementia, is an irreversible and progressive neurodegenerative disorder causing cognitive and functional impairment. It is characterized by formation of protein aggregates and progressive loss of neurons in the central nervous system (CNS). The symptoms of AD include short-term memory loss, confusion, irritability, aggression and mood swings, progressing to long-term memory deficit, withdrawal from social interactions and subsequently a loss in higher central functioning.

Latrepirdine
Latrepirdine dihydrochloride is a neuroactive compound with antagonist activity at histaminergic, α-adrenergic, and serotonergic receptors. Latrepirdine stimulates amyloid precursor protein (APP) catabolism and amyloid-β (Aβ) secretion.

J 147
J-147 is an exceptionally potent, orally active, neuroprotective agent for cognitive enhancement. J-147 can readily pass the blood brain barrier (BBB). J-147 can inhibit monoamine oxidase B (MAO B) and the dopamine transporter with EC50 values of 1.88 μM and 0.649 μM, respectively. J-147 has potential for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

Tramiprosate
Tramiprosate is a small, orally-administered compound that binds to soluble Aβ and reduces amyloid aggregation and subsequent deposition target: Aβ In vitro: Tramiprosate provides neuroprotection against Aβ-induced neurotoxicity in neuronal and mouse organotypic hippocampal cultures, and reverses Aβ-induced long-term potentiation (LTP) inhibition in rat hippocampus, in part, through activation of β-aminobutyric acid A (GABA-A) receptors.
